A Hard-Core Fitness Class With A Yoga Vibe

“God is so good!!  It is amazing how things manifest into our lives.  I had been asking the universe for a class that could be half yoga and half core strength.  So thank you so much for creating that class!  I think you should patten a video or something.  You know what you are doing would be so cutting edge in the fitness world.” -Sonja, Bootie Camp student

I have been inspired and encouraged by my students on various occasions to make videos of my classes so that they can enjoy them when they are not on island.  What would it look like if I had classes available right here on line for you to enjoy?

Here’s a little peek at my own practice (working on my Bootie Camp class sequencing for an upper body training day).  (more…)

Kauai Yoga And Fitness Classes For 2011

yoga offering leiWow, it really is hard to believe that I am putting together my schedule for 2011!  Didn’t it seem like not too long ago when Prince was singing about partying like it was 1999?

Well, I am delighted to be offering a more advanced Anusara yoga class this coming year!  Way to go Kauai kula, we are stepping it up and going deeper.  This is a fruit of your dedication and love for your practice.  And the beauty is that there is always more!

So in 2011 we will be adding a Level 2 Anusara yoga class as well as a Guided Practice!

My last class of 2010 will be Tuesday, Dec. 21 and for the remainder of the year I am available for private sessions.  I look forward to deepening our understanding of this practice with you in 2011! (more…)

Radical Expressions From The Heart

IMG_1493-20090909If there is one thing that yoga teaches us, it is to step into the freedom of who we are, and to express ourselves fully.

At the beginning of a yoga journey, it may seem like it takes a lot of energy to awaken the entire body and align with grace, optimally.  But never fear, for over time and with consistent practice, moving with a full expression emanating from every cell and every fiber in your body will happen naturally.

A strong foundational practice leads the way to this graceful unfoldment, and the entire process teaches us deeply about our own tendencies.   From there, it is like riding a bike.  Once you understand these principles in your body, and really feel them, they arise naturally from within us as we live off of our yoga mat too.

I was recently in Grand Rapids, MI visiting family and teaching yoga.  An artist friend of mine, Rachel Finan, set up a photography shoot with a local photographer, Terry Johnston.  I had such an amazing time during this photo shoot that I have to blog about it here.

Creativity, connection and expression were all part of the play!  For this particular shoot I wished to capture the essence of my Bodhi Boot Camp class which is non-traditional and somewhat out-of-the-box.  The photos we took were fantastic, and the intention of my overall idea playfully and powerfully jumps off each photo.

Bodhi Boot Camp

This class combines YOGA POSTURES with MAT CONDITIONING exercises, strategically chosen from a multitude of disciplines such as Pilates and gyro.

Samantha designs each class to be extremely efficient & effective. You’ll awaken large AND small muscle groups, explore the balance between stability and mobility, and delight in playing your edge.

Choreographed to soft music, each class ends with a relaxing meditation. You’ll leave feeling physically integrated, energetically expanded, and mentally clear. All levels welcome!

The class is so unique and special that I drive 20 miles each way to take it. Combining yoga, tai chi, gyrokenisis and pilates makes the class challenging and more enjoyable then just taking one of the styles. I get a good stretch, workout and a good sweat. The mental and spiritual part of the class is great also. I wish you the best in Hawaii and I will make sure when I go to Hawaii I will take your class there.

Thank you so very much for an inspirational and extremely positive class format that encouraged me to stretch and strengthen my physical body, while maintaing a positive and heart felt energy flow thru my emotional being. I sincerely enjoyed Bhodi Bootcamp and look forward to experiencing class with Samantha Fox again. It was truly an enjoyable experience.

Thank you so much for your yoga class!! I’ve been feeling very disheartened by my post baby body as I have always been the athletic type and feel that I should be rebounding quicker. Obviously the powers that be have other plans…. and I think THIS is it. Although I have only done three of your classes I feel tremendously uplifted mentally (and REALLY sore physically, but in a good way!) I think the difference between this and my usual exercise routine of jogging and bike riding is there isn’t that competative element and I am allowed to be “in the moment” where as with running or riding I’m always pushing my body to go further or faster. So I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!

What an awesome work out. I was definitely feeling it after class, but in a good way. Samantha is an inspirational teacher who guides you to push yourself at your level. I would definitely would do it again!
