  • The Difference Between A World Record Holder And A Beginner

    Ryan Moody Box JumpsThe difference between a master (or in the case of who has inspired today’s sharing, a 2-time world record holder in box jump) and a beginner  is that the master has failed more times than the beginner has tried.

    I am not sure who to credit the quote above too, but wowzers what a simple truth!

    Today’s share is to acknowledge and honor all our you out there taking a risk, going for it, falling down, getting back up, and giving it your all once again! And it is also for those that are feeling defeated, not-good enough, and maybe a little hesitant with how you are approaching your life and your goals.

    Today I am going to share with you a tool and a meditation that was inspired through me by Ryan Moody, inspirational speaker, 2x world record holder in the box jump and well known athlete for his skills in the Cross Fit community.

    I was fortunate enough to participate in a WOD that Ryan Moody coached at Kilauea Cross Fit about 5 weeks back. He taught us how to get the most out of our box jump by using rhythm in our feet at the top of the box to get faster reps banged out. But most importantly he inspired us about the significance of our MIND-SET in being the best possible athlete we can be in our bodies.

    Yes! And I am going to pass this powerhouse of inspiration on to YOU because it can help to create life-affirming results in your body and in your life if you drive these inspirations home too!

  • Tapping (EFT) To Support Your Best Body Ever

    strong bodyYou have probably heard of “tapping” or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as a tool to support you in releasing struggle and frustration in your life, but have you tried it?

    Have you considered using this tool as a way to support you in designing the body of your dreams on purpose and not by default?

    You KNOW I am a huge advocate for living inspired in a body that purrs with vitality, strength and appreciation. You KNOW that I love using the tools of yoga and fitness to unlock our bodies greatest potentials and energies. And because you follow me in social media such as FB or IG, or because you receive my weekly newsletters, you KNOW that I have overcome plenty of struggle with my body over the last 20 plus years.

    And just like you, I do still occasionally experience challenges and frustrations with my body (because of my thoughts). But, unlike what I use to do with those struggles in the past, I now (most of the time) take those challenges as a cue to tune in instead of go down a dark rabbit hole of self-loathing and self-abuse.

    Now, when I feel and hear myself being less than loving to my body, I take that as a cue to check in, to get real, to listen, and to love. And what I can tell you is that it brings insight and freedom EVERY TIME.

    Today I am sharing a technique, a tool, that resonates with me as yet another way to bless my body with love, truth, light and acceptance.   • A Meditation To Open Up Portals Of Ease In Our Lives

    sunrise hike on kauaiI shared a great call with my group coaching clients the other day. The call very naturally unfolded into a meditation that evokes more ease in our lives.

    The very day that I led this meditation I had two HUGE breakthroughs in my life in bringing ease into areas I felt like I was creating lots of struggle. Yay!

    Maybe you can relate to that feeling yourself too?

  • A Hawaiian Summer Retreat: Yoga. Fitness. Play. Paradise.

    dolphin-escortIf you read my last post you KNOW we had an epic last 2 retreats here on Kauai this year. Actually, each retreat I lead is truly remarkable and takes on a personality and theme of its own. This summer retreat will be no different. I am always so delighted in anticipation as my next retreat comes alive with it’s new guests and new curriculum.

    I understand summer is a time when many people are content at home because it is warm and beautiful where they live. Especially for those that live in a brutal winter season. (I am from Michigan, I totally get it). However, SUMMERTIME here on the north shore of Kauai is exceptionally dreamy.   • Kauai Yoga & Fitness Retreat: Off The Beaten Path

    I have one more retreat this year set on my calendar for August 21-27 and there is still room available! Honestly that time of month is my fave because in summer we can access beaches on the north shore we can’t in the other seasons here. Also, the DOLPHINS are here in August! If swimming with dolphins on Kauai is a dream of yours, THIS is the retreat you wanna book baby!

    Additionally I will be leading 2 more in 2016. One in February, and another later in the year.

    I will be offering couple partial-scholarships for people who are truly incapable of paying the full tuition for this life-transforming event.   • The #1 Reason You Can’t Do A Handstand

    one handed handstandWhat is one pose that you wish you could rock with ease and freedom? Most people would reply HANDSTAND! Handstands are one of those poses that may take a while to find your “sweet spot”, to really “nail it” on purpose and not on accident, but it is so totally worth the consistent practice to get there.

    Handstands offer a new perspective on life that will bring a wealth of empowerment and confidence to your life. Yet, there is ONE common thing that I see all the time that keeps people from attaining their handstand dream.

    ONE THING. One simple-as-a-pimple alignment piece that is out of wack and keeping 90% of people defeated in conquering this pose. PPPSSST…. this simple piece is NOT shoulder strength and it is NOT thoracic spine flexibility. Although both of those elements are great keys to unlocking your handstand potential, that is more than likely not the #1 factor that is holding you back.

    Today I will be sharing 2 (of oh so many) stories of how when you get over this ONE THING, YOU too will be able to joyfully practice, and one day NAIL your handstand too.

    (But just a word of caution: if you DON’T get over this one alignment problem, you will NEVER and I repeat NEVER conquer this dream that your body is so very capable of enjoying fully.) (more…)

  • Raw & Organic Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Meets Thin Mint

    sugar free cookieHealthy, organic food is always a highlight at my yoga, fitness and adventure retreats here on Kauai and today I am going to share a recipe I served that had everyone purring in blissful delight. It is like a cross between a Samoa Girl Scout Cookie and a Thin Mint, but raw, organic and free from all processed sugars!

    When you live an active lifestyle and appreciate all that your body does for you, gifting the body with nourishment is key. When you put good nourishment into your body, your body feels good, works wonderfully and energetically you become more open and willing to life life full out! Wouldn’t you agree?

    And during my retreats this is exactly what we do. Life full out! Some of the deserts that we enjoyed included a raw, tropical fruit pie, a vegan, one-ingredient banana ice cream topped with fresh macnuts and a cashew creame, and lets not forget the raw key lime pie made with avocados. Yummmm.

    But lets get back to those delicious and nutritious Girl Scout Cookies that I am sharing with you today. (more…)
